I kept forgetting to look before sitting on bird-blessed chairs. He also got the leather recliner, which is strictly Not Allowed.

We put a picture of "Rennie" on the bulletin board as a reminder of his happy song, but I hope we've solved the problem. Tenants need to pay rent in cash, not barter. ;-)

We have the "birds in the attic" argument nearly every spring, and I always concede and allow nests to be destroyed and holes to be patched. This is a hundred year old farm house, so there are always new holes. However, we also have a morning dove who returns every year to nest on the back porch. I will not allow her to be disturbed. Her song is the song of childhoold mornings at Cypress Manor or the farm in Lewis County, WV. One year she nested in our croquet set--so no croquet. Another, it was the high boy filled with barbeque utensils... new ones were bought.

I totally understand your wanting to let the House Wren stay. I also understand why you didn't.

I think it would be lovely having a bird in your home, except in Colorado where a bird getting in means all that cold getting in and all the heat getting out! Such a wonderful memory to share with your kids as they grow up, 'remember the bird of crappiness?'
